Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Cake Wind by Sureni. These Terms & Conditions govern all orders placed with Cake Wind by Sureni ("we", "us", "our"), a boutique custom cake studio based in Pannipitiya, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

By placing an order through our website, WhatsApp, social media, telephone or in person, you ("the customer") confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Orders

Every cake we create is handcrafted and made fresh to order. We do not keep cakes in stock or mass-produce our products.

Orders are accepted based on our availability and become confirmed only after:

• The design, flavour, size and price have been agreed.
• The required advance payment has been received.

A quotation, conversation or availability check does not reserve your preferred date.

We reserve the right to decline any order that cannot be completed to our quality or food safety standards.

2. Pricing

Cake prices are based on several factors, including:

• Cake size
• Number of servings
• Flavour
• Design complexity
• Decorations
• Delivery requirements

The final price will be confirmed before production begins.

Prices may change until an order has been confirmed with the required advance payment.

Additional changes requested after confirmation may result in additional charges.

3. Advance Payment

A 70% advance payment of the total order value is required to confirm every order.

Production will begin only after the advance payment has been received.

Until payment is received, your preferred collection or delivery date is not guaranteed.

4. Remaining Balance

The remaining balance must be paid before collection or before delivery unless another arrangement has been agreed with us in writing.

5. Order Notice

To ensure availability and sufficient preparation time, we recommend placing custom cake orders at least 3–7 days in advance.

Wedding cakes, large celebration cakes and highly customized designs may require additional notice.

Last-minute orders may be accepted depending on our production schedule but cannot be guaranteed.

6. Cancellations & Refunds

Because every cake is custom-made specifically for each customer, ingredients, decorations and production time are reserved once an order has been confirmed. For this reason:

• Advance payments are non-refundable.
• Confirmed orders cannot be cancelled for a refund once production has been scheduled.

If Cake Wind by Sureni is unable to fulfil your confirmed order due to unforeseen circumstances on our part, any payments received will be refunded in full.

7. Changes to Orders

We understand that plans sometimes change. Reasonable changes to:

• Design
• Flavour
• Collection date
• Delivery time

may be accepted if production has not yet started and our schedule allows.

Additional charges may apply depending on the requested changes.

Once production has begun, further changes may not be possible.

8. Collection

Customers collecting their cake are responsible for transporting it safely. We recommend:

• Keeping the cake on a flat surface inside the vehicle.
• Avoiding sudden braking or sharp turns.
• Keeping the vehicle cool, especially during warm weather.

Once the cake has been handed over to the customer or their representative, responsibility for the cake transfers to the customer. Cake Wind by Sureni is not responsible for damage caused during transportation, improper handling, accidents or unsuitable storage after collection.

9. Collection Inspection

Customers are encouraged to inspect their cake before leaving our studio.

By accepting the cake at collection, you confirm that the cake matches the agreed order and is in satisfactory condition.

10. Delivery

Where delivery has been arranged, Cake Wind by Sureni remains responsible for the cake until it has been delivered to the agreed location. Once the customer or their representative accepts delivery, responsibility for:

• storage
• handling
• transportation
• serving

passes to the customer.

11. Delivery Delays

Delivery times are estimated.

Traffic conditions, weather, road closures and other unforeseen circumstances may occasionally cause delays.

If a delay is expected, we will make every reasonable effort to keep you informed.

12. Storage & Care

Our cakes are freshly prepared and should be handled carefully. Please:

• Store the cake according to the instructions provided.
• Keep refrigerated if advised.
• Keep away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
• Remove the cake from refrigeration before serving if instructed.

Failure to follow storage instructions may affect the appearance and quality of the cake.

13. Allergies

Customers must inform us of any allergies before placing an order.

14. Design Variations

Every cake is handcrafted individually. For this reason, slight variations in:

• colours
• decorations
• flowers
• textures
• finishing details

may occur compared with reference photographs. These natural variations do not affect the quality or flavour of the cake.

Cake sizes and serving quantities are approximate.

Decorative items may not be edible unless clearly stated.

Where necessary, we may make small design adjustments to ensure structural stability and food safety.

15. Customer Inspiration

Customers are welcome to provide inspiration photos from Pinterest, Instagram or other sources.

These images are used as design references only.

Cake Wind by Sureni will create a cake inspired by the reference but cannot guarantee an exact replica of another artist's or bakery's work.

16. Intellectual Property

Customers are responsible for ensuring they have permission to use any logos, trademarks or copyrighted images supplied for cake decoration.

Cake Wind by Sureni accepts no responsibility for copyright or trademark issues arising from customer-provided artwork.

17. Photographs

We may photograph completed cakes for use in our:

• Website
• Portfolio
• Gallery
• Facebook
• Instagram
• Advertising

If you would prefer your cake not to be photographed, please let us know before collection or delivery.

18. Customer Responsibilities

Before confirming an order, customers are responsible for checking:

• Names
• Dates
• Messages
• Colours
• Flavours
• Cake size
• Design details

Once production has started, changes may no longer be possible.

Cake Wind by Sureni cannot accept responsibility for errors that were approved by the customer before production.

19. Complaint Policy

If you experience any issue with your order, please contact us within 24 hours of collection or delivery.

Where applicable, please include:

• photographs
• a description of the issue
• your order details

This allows us to investigate promptly and provide an appropriate resolution.

Complaints relating to cakes that have been substantially consumed, altered, improperly stored or damaged after collection or delivery may not be eligible for review or compensation.

20. Force Majeure

Cake Wind by Sureni shall not be liable for delays or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

• Natural disasters
• Floods
• Severe weather
• Fire
• Road closures
• Government restrictions
• Power outages
• Public emergencies

21. Privacy

Any personal information provided when placing an order will be used only for processing your order, communicating with you and delivering our services.

22. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
